Postpartum & Newborn Care

Affirming Healthcare that supports parents & their newborns

Science, Wellness, & Informed Decision-Making

Most hospital-based providers offer a single 6-week postpartum visit and one or two newborn check-ins; very few of these visits include critical wellness checks such as mental health assessments, pelvic floor education, trans body-feeding options, gender-affirming parent education, or trauma-informed PAP smears.

We believe the postpartum period is just as important as the birth and prenatal period and pride ourselves in offering extensive care for both newborns and their parents.

We do this through regular postpartum visits, queer & trans centered parenting education, and timely collaboration & referrals with additional providers as needed (such as mental health therapists, lactation consultants, doulas, physical therapists, and pediatricians, to name a few).

  • I HAD MY BABY WITH A PROVIDER OUTSIDE OF VILLAGE, HOW CAN I WORK WITH YOU FOR POSTPARTUM CARE?

Often, postpartum care following a hospital birth is limited to 1-2 visits and minimal lactation support.

Even if you had a hospital birth, we offer full postpartum care for both parent and newborn that includes a home visit, and 2-5 follow-up appointments in our clinic, in addition to lactation/feeding support.

MY PROVIDER TOLD ME I NEEDED A PAP SMEAR AFTER MY BABY WAS BORN BUT I HAD A TRAUMATIC BIRTH EXPERIENCE AND AM HESITANT TO SCHEDULE ONE IN THE HOSPITAL SETTING.

We understand PAP smears and any pelvic exam may be triggering or uncomfortable, especially in a fast-paced hospital or with providers that are not identity and body affirming.

We offer trauma-informed, client led, and compassionate pelvic exams and PAP smears in addition to any other physical exams needed in the postpartum (chest/breast exam, STI testing, pelvic floor assessment, wound healing check).

and baby steps to find your village.”
